The only way we will preserve our remaining rainforest is if we work with the local communities. Financial incentive needs to be put in place to preserve the natural vegetation and trees.   This is the most important aspect for Amazonia, WE KEEP ACAI TREES STANDING. We give the locals more money to maintain the natural Acai forests so IT WILL NEVER BE CLEARED for cattle or soy. 

The beautiful thing is local communities now have real financial incentive to preserve the natural Acai trees throughout the Amazon Rainforest.

Finally there is real financial incentive to keep the Amazon Rainforest standing. The Açaí palm tree (on which the berry grows) was once logged heavily for its palm heart, eaten as a delicacy.

Now the palm trees are being conserved because people are consuming Açaí berries more and more.

FAIR TRADE practices ensure the protection of the native trees from loggers and cattle farmers. In essence, locals are paid to preserve the precious Amazon.

Where do we SOURCE OUR PURPLEBERRIES?

We source our Acai from the Amazon Rainforests around Macapa (North of Belem) where Acai is plentiful ensuring locals are always able to afford Acai through prices unaffected by increased demand. Belem is the hub for most of Brazil’s Açaí exportation where prices are beginning to rise due too high demand and increased exportation, creating a terrible situation where locals are unable to afford any Açaí. Amazonia only source Açaí from the Macapa region where Açaí is plentiful and price unaffected.

The growing Açaí market can provide hope to the Amazon region where devastated land has more value than the biosocial diverse pristine forest. Açaí also has the potential to revert the deforestation trend by offering economic incentives along the lines of a non-timber product with high socioeconomic value. It is a direct response to cattle-ranching, by far the economic activity which has devastated over 60 million hectares (150 million acres) of rainforest and creates roughly 200,000 jobs where 8 million are needed. In the same vicious cycle is logging, that finances cattle ranching and contributes to opening roads throughout the forest. 90% all logging in the Amazon is clandestine and illegal. How do we process our Raw, Organic Purpleberries?

Our Acai berries are first HAND SELECTED with care from WILD GROWING Açaí palms. Hand selection ensures only the best berries are harvested.

  1)  We ensure the picked berries are then SNAPPED-FROZEN WITHIN A FEW HOURS after picking to retain all those essential nutrients, antioxidants and amino acids in their natural wholefood state.

  2)  We then FREEZE DRY our picked berries at -40 degrees.  Only using this freeze drying method ensures absolute MAXIMUM NUTRIENT RETENTION.

AMAZONIA Purpleberry is kept in its WHOLEFOOD form through-out the entire processing procedure. What this means is that when you consume our Purpleberry it is straight away recognised as a food and absorbed in the body because it’s KEPT IN ITS PURE NATURAL STATE.
